Keep Your Hope Alive In God

Hope in God is second among the three spiritual virtues that will last forever. 1 Cor 13:13

“Three things will last forever—Faith, Hope, and Love—and the greatest of these is love.”

But it’s a wonder today, that we don’t talked about it, like Faith and Love. Hope seems very silent amongst the three brothers, but yet has so much power.  I will not talk so much about Love in this post, you can read my posts on why you must know God’s Love and Understanding the Love of God.

You along side me have heard, how much the devil hunts our faith; but not so much of what he does to our hope. Do you realize that even though faith is so important: “But without faith, it’s impossible to please God…” you need hope to receive faith?

If you are saved in Christ, then you know that it was the hope you had for a changed life that produced the faith that got you saved. Everywhere you’ll find faith, then you must encounter hope. Why? Because faith is the substance of things hoped for…

Keep your hope Alive

What is this Hope?

  • Hope is an expectation, that is based upon God’s revealed word.
  • Hope has to do with the unseen and the future.
  • Just like Faith and Love are of the heart; so also is hope. Not from your head. Bible-based hope is spiritual, it is generated from the heart by God’s Spirit. Rom 15:13

Note: My emphasis is on God’s revealed word to you. Many have their hopes upon many things, apart from God. And many assume that they have their hopes on God; when there is no basis in God’s word for such hopes.

Now, many faith failures can be traced to a lack of Bible-based hope (an expectation birthed in your heart from God’s Word by the Holy Spirit). You may have hope for certain things, but if your hope must outlive your desire, it must come from God.

The Bible prescription for hope is to set it before you. So you can see it and hold fast to it. Heb12:2 “who for the joy that was set before him…” what Jesus had before him was not just joy, but also hope–an expectation. A hope that he would earn a name that is above every name. He had His hope set to be the first begotten from death. His hope was he would have many brothers and sisters–that which the Father wanted.

Today, what are the hopes you have set before you. Because it seems many have set their hopes behind them and focus on other things. A lack of zealousness for the Lord is proof of a forgotten hope. What has God told you? Pick them up and set them before you. A man with no hope has no basis to have faith.

Depression, suicide, and every other thing that follows the aforementioned are proof that a man has been drained of his hope. What I am saying is; before the devil puncture your faith, he had depleted your hope.

Yes! God said; “Praise me son” but it was your responsibility to have found an expectation from his word based on your desires to excite your praise. Psalms 67:5-6 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

Of course, the Lord said, “serve me.” But it is your responsibility to find an expectation and set it before you, to keep your faith burning until it is accomplished. Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Anything you do in God’s kingdom without hope (Bible-based expectation), automatically means it lacked faith: which is unacceptable to God.

Yes! you have hope for eternity with God, which is the greatest long term hope we all have. However, if your short term hopes are not properly aligned and so end up dashed, you may forsake the long term. God forbid!

Its time to wake up friend! and set your hopes before you. Your weariness for the things of God is a sign of a hope forgotten.

Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love–and a man with no hope is void of the other two.

God Bless you.
