The word ‘flee’ means ‘to shrink or to stand fearfully aloof.’ The devil is more afraid of us than we are of him.

The Origin of Demons

  • God created Lucifer as a perfect, beautiful, wise being—an anointed cherub who dwelt close to God
  • Lucifer rebelled out of pride, believing he knew enough to overthrow God and replace Him
  • One-third of the angels joined Lucifer’s rebellion
  • God judged Lucifer by casting him out of heaven and destroying his power, transforming him into satan
  • In the beginning, God created the earth perfect (Genesis 1:1), but it “became void” (Genesis 1:2)
  • Isaiah 45:18 confirms God did NOT create the earth void—supporting a pre-Adamic civilization
  • Ezekiel 28 describes a Garden of Eden during Lucifer’s time, distinct from Adam’s Garden
  • The Hebrew words “tohu wa bohu” describe destruction elsewhere in Scripture (Edom, Israel)
  • God used “bara” (create from nothing) for original creation, but “asah” (recreate) for the seven-day restoration
  • In man’s creation, God gave Adam full authority and power over planet earth, including access to God’s throne
  • Satan subjugated Adam through temptation, gaining everything Adam possessed
  • Satan claimed this transferred authority during Jesus’ temptation (Luke 4:6)
  • Earth operates under a leasehold system—possibly 6,000 years
  • Demons recognized Jesus came “before the time” of judgment (Matthew 8:29)
  • There are four classes of demons. Principalities (lowest rank), Powers, Rulers of the darkness of this world, and Wicked spirits in heavenly places (highest rank—fallen angels)
  • “Sons of God” in Genesis 6 refers to angels (consistent with Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7)
  • These fallen angels cohabited with women, producing hybrid offspring—giants
  • Peter and Jude confirm that angels left their domain and are now chained in darkness
  • The flood destroyed all flesh, preserving pure Adamic stock through Noah
  • Disembodied spirits of half-breeds likely became various classes of demons
  • Rulers of darkness lead possession teams—deal with the head demon, and the rest follow
  • The Gerasene demoniac had one leader commanding 6,000 demons
  • Principalities and powers are lesser demons, often appearing as small imps, causing distractions
  • However, Jesus came to destroy the devil’s works and restore man’s lost authority
  • At the cross, satan was judged, cast out, and stripped of all legal authority
  • “Destroy” (Greek: katargeo) means “to make of no effect”—satan is completely powerless
  • Jesus holds all keys of death, Hades, and dominion over heaven and earth
  • Satan’s authority today operates purely through deception, not legal right

Demons do not like to hang around a Christian who constantly speaks in tongues, worships the Lord and speaks in line with the Word.

Degrees of Demonic Control

  • Wicked spirits in heavenly places directly affect the course of nations
  • Joshua’s natural battle required the spiritual routing of Canaan’s ruling demons first
  • Also, Daniel’s 21-day fast revealed Gabriel warring against the Prince of Persia
  • Michael the archangel joined the battle to secure Gabriel’s release
  • The Prince of Greece rose simultaneously with Alexander the Great’s empire
  • World events reflect either demonic activity or angelic interception through prayer
  • There are three Levels of Demonic Control, which are:

Oppression: Demonic attack on the physical body—sickness, blindness, deafness

Obsession: Demonic attack on the soul—thoughts, emotions, will

Possession: Complete subjugation of the human spirit

  • One wrong thought can bind a person for a lifetime
  • John Osteen’s sister Mary suffered for years, believing God sent her sickness—freedom came instantly when she rejected that thought
  • Simon the magician was bound by iniquity because of the thoughts of his heart
  • Even Ananias and Sapphira were obsessed with the thought of cheating
  • The question of whether Christians can be possessed is primarily a debate over definitions
  • The Holy Spirit dwells in every Christian’s spirit—He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world
  • Only the soul and body of a Christian can be controlled through sin and disobedience
  • Demonic manifestations in genuine Christians usually stem from psychological induction, natural causes, or demons attacking from a distance
  • A Christian can only be fully possessed after rejecting Christ and becoming an unbeliever
  • There are three levels of demonic attack:

Level 1 (Body): Attack through the five senses—Eve (eyes), Achan (sight), David (lust), Jesus’ temptation (hunger, riches)

Level 2 (Soul): Attack through will (suppression), emotions (crises), intellect (wrong doctrines)

Level 3 (Spirit): Attack through false visions, audible voices impersonating God, deceiving spirits

  • As believers, our defense lies in constant filling of the Holy Spirit, which provides immunity
  • Speaking in tongues and worship drives demons away
  • The exhortation to not give place to the devil appears in the same passage as “do not grieve the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 4:26-30)

Those who do not build their lives upon the Word of God but rely on the so-called deliverance ministry live on endless deliverance therapy that does not have permanent results.

Bible Methods of Deliverance

  • First, there are unscriptural methods to deliverance.
  • Forcing everyone through a standardized checklist of sins to confess and renounce
  • Dragging forgiven sins out of God’s sea of forgetfulness
  • Taking one method (ancestral curse breaking) and applying it to every case
  • Making universal requirements out of exceptional cases
  • On the other hand, Jesus never used a confession list when casting out demons
  • Paul required no confession from the slave girl in Philippi
  • Deliverance came through handkerchiefs and aprons without any confession
  • If Jesus spat and healed once, that does not establish a spitting ministry
  • If Jesus used clay, that does not authorize a clay ministry
  • Jesus always commanded demons to keep quiet when they tried to speak
  • Paul rejected the demon’s unsolicited advertising
  • No scriptural support exists for commanding demons to “speak the truth.”
  • The devil is a liar—his cohorts cannot be trusted
  • The Gerasene demoniac was an exceptional case, not the norm
  • Demons manifest through the preached Word and the Anointing, not through being talked into manifestation
  • Biblical deliverance requires faith—not psychoanalysis, not psychotherapy
  • Demons feed on fear; fear-filled atmospheres hinder deliverance
  • Jesus rebuked His disciples for unbelief, not insufficient technique
  • The Canaanite woman’s faith brought deliverance from a distance
  • Your Faith is released through spoken words
  • Authority of the spoken word terrifies demons
  • There are two major channels of Deliverance

By faith: The believer’s faith level determines results

By the Anointing: Demons flee without a single command under the manifested presence of God

  • Anointed cloths and aprons expelled demons in Acts
  • Cast-out demons wander the earth seeking another body—they do not go to the pit
  • “Dry places” indicate perpetual thirst, similar to the rich man in Hades
  • Believers can command demons not to re-enter a person
  • Believers have the authority to bind demonic activity in geographical areas
  • Commanding demons into the pit exceeds our jurisdiction
  • Finally, not every problem comes from demons
  • The flesh requires crucifixion and repentance, not deliverance
  • Mental strongholds require renewing the mind through God’s Word, not exorcism
  • The Word makes us clean and maintains our freedom
  • Endless deliverance therapy produces no permanent results

It is very easy to command demons to come out. But it takes a longer time to seal the entrance through the thought life that they had used. Mental habits can hold a person stronger than prison bars can hold him.

The Thought Life

  • Here’s how strongholds are formed: Temptation enters → imagination becomes infected → patterns of thinking develop → demonic strongholds established
  • Birds can fly over your head—you don’t have to let them build nests in your hair
  • Simon the magician lacked Word-based teaching, leading to wrong thoughts and bondage
  • Repentance targets the thought life, not just behavior
  • Satan gathers information through your conversations, actions, and spiritual radiance
  • Satan was confused about Jesus’ crucifixion—first using Peter to stop it, then using Judas to accelerate it
  • If satan’s cohorts understood God’s plan, they would never have crucified Christ
  • Deliverance restores people to their right minds
  • Demons gain access to the soul through yielded thoughts
  • Rulers of darkness mastermind mental holds over humans
  • One yielded thought opens the door for multiple spirits
  • Casting demons out takes seconds; sealing the entrance through renewed thinking takes longer
  • Mental habits imprison people more effectively than physical chains
  • Seeking physical signs (vomiting, screaming, heavy breathing) as manifestations of deliverance is unscriptural
  • Sense-knowledge ministry replaces faith in God’s Word
  • The true manifestation: a person in their right mind who can acknowledge Jesus as Savior
  • New believers need teaching and Holy Spirit baptism, not repeated deliverance sessions
  • Tongues and Word meditation torment demons
  • Never pray to God to cast out demons—God delegated this authority to you
  • Paul prayed three times for God to remove his thorn; God responded, “My grace is sufficient.”
  • God will not do for you what He commanded you to do
  • We do not pray to demons; we do not beg demons; we command demons
  • We issue orders in the Name of Jesus
  • Kenneth E. Hagin’s vision: Jesus waited for Hagin to command the demon himself, then said, “If you didn’t do something, I couldn’t do it.”
  • Jesus delegated authority over demons to His church legally
  • Warnings about demonic counterattack do not line up with the Word of God
  • Demons are more afraid of us than we are of them
  • Fear opens doors; faith closes them
  • Meditation in the Word cures fear
  • Jesus commands you to cast out demons—He does not suggest it
  • Jesus gave us authority to trample on scorpions and serpents—nothing shall by any means hurt us
  • We dwell in the secret place of the Most High—no evil befalls us, no plague comes near our dwelling
  • You can be completely immune to all enemy attacks

All fear of demons and the devil must be totally eradicated from the Christian life. There are more angels who work with us than demons who work for the devil. We outnumber them.

The Work of Angels

  • God assigns a guardian angel to every human being at birth
  • Guardian angels always behold the face of the Father (Matthew 18:10)
  • The early church recognized the concept of guardian angels (Acts 12:15)
  • Parents who give their children to false worship restrict their angels’ legal ability to protect
  • Angels cannot violate human free will—they only cover blind spots we cannot control
  • Our free choice to welcome angels gives them wider legal access to work in our lives
  • Abraham and Jacob both acknowledged angels helping them
  • Cornelius’s guardian angel instructed him to send for Peter
  • When nations go to war, angels and demons go to war
  • Joshua saw the captain of the Lord’s host leading the spiritual battle
  • An angel led Moses and Israel through the wilderness
  • Moses’ lifted hands released angelic aid to Joshua against the Amalekites
  • One angel routed the entire Assyrian army in Hezekiah’s time
  • Angels bring supernatural provision—Elijah’s food, manna for 40 years (angels’ food)
  • Elijah and Zechariah worked closely with angels in their ministries
  • In modern times, William Branham worked with angels in healing ministry (early ministry only)
  • All revelations must line up with the written Word of God
  • Reject any angel or person preaching a contrary gospel (Galatians 1:8)
  • Never worship angels
  • Satan impersonates an angel of light—test all manifestations by Scripture, inward witness, and fruit
  • Angels also ministered to Jesus after His temptation
  • An angel strengthened Jesus at Gethsemane
  • Angels appeared at Jesus’ birth and resurrection
  • Angels freed the apostles from prison twice
  • An angel slew Herod the persecutor
  • Paul had an angelic escort throughout his ministry
  • An angel guaranteed the safety of all 276 people aboard Paul’s shipwrecked vessel
  • Angels encamp around those who fear the Lord—a life of uprightness and righteousness attracts them
  • Make God your dwelling place; angels watch over those who abide under the shadow of the Almighty
  • Like attracts like—true worshippers surround themselves with angels who love to worship
  • Fasting and prayer activate angelic aid (Daniel, Peter’s release, Hezekiah)
  • Your words give legal ground to either demons or angels
  • Gabriel came because of Daniel’s words
  • So develop yourself in worship, prayer, and the Word of God
  • No study on demonology is complete without the study of angels, so because we outnumber the demonic host.
  • Almighty God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is with us and in us; therefore, all fear of demons must be eradicated
  • Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess Jesus Christ is Lord

In conclusion, you don’t need to fear what Jesus has already defeated. Rise, renew your mind with the Word, and start exercising your delegated authority. Demons flee when you speak—not because of who you are, but because of Whose you are.

Finally, here is a question we’d love you to answer.

Are you accidentally giving the enemy legal ground through your words without even realizing it?
