Foretelling and Forth-Telling

● God’s people are a people of prophecy, called out, built up, and sent out by prophecy through the power of God’s Word.
● Prophecy has a two-fold application: foretelling and forth-telling, which together reveal the mind of God concerning people, places, or events.
● Foretelling means to tell ahead of time things in the mind of God, but it is not the same as fortune-telling, palm-reading, or star-gazing.
● Forth-telling means to speak forth, tell out, or tell forward what is in the mind of God to an individual, people, place, or event for a particular time.
● Prophecy operates in two categories: the ministry of a prophet (prophetic office) and the gift of prophecy given to any believer who has the Holy Spirit.
● The gift of prophecy is for exhortation, comfort, and edification, and every believer can prophesy, but not everyone who prophesies is a prophet.
● To be a prophet requires a specific calling into that ministry office, while prophetic utterance can be given to anyone when God enables them.
● Prophecy in Romans 12:6 is a faith utterance spoken according to the proportion of faith, distinct from the revelation-based utterance of a prophet.
● The prophetic office is one of the five-fold ministry gifts set forth in the Church for the perfecting of the saints and the edifying of the body of Christ.
● Prophets have revelations, signs, and wonders, and they speak forth what they have heard from God, and it comes to pass.

● The fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy began on the day of Pentecost when 120 disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues and prophesy.
● The same Holy Spirit poured out at Pentecost has been poured upon believers today to enable them to prophesy and speak words of power.
● When we prophesy, we speak words of power that affect our bodies, families, finances, order the course of our lives today, and shape our future.

God’s Word in your life becomes efficacious as you declare it by prophecy. It’s like having a Bible in your hands; it contains the gospel that saves, but until you tell it forth, it will have no power to save anybody. 

The Valley of Dry Bones

● God took Ezekiel to a valley full of very dry, dead men’s bones and asked him, “Can these bones live?” to teach him about the power of prophecy.
● Ezekiel initially deferred responsibility to God by saying, “O Lord God, thou knowest,” but God corrected him by showing that he had a part to play.
● God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones and speak God’s Word directly to them, instructing him exactly what to say.
● Ezekiel prophesied as he was commanded, and as he spoke, there was a noise, a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to bone.
● As Ezekiel continued prophesying, sinews, flesh, and skin covered the skeletons, but there was still no breath in them until he prophesied again.
● God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy to the wind (representing the Spirit of God) and command the breath of life to come upon the slain.
● Ezekiel obeyed and prophesied to the wind, and the breath of life entered the bodies, causing them to stand up as an exceeding great army.
● This account demonstrates that you can prophesy to the things you want changed, including inanimate objects like cars, houses, or bank accounts.
● The author shares a personal testimony of teaching his father to prophesy to his broken-down cars, and they received life and got back on the road one after another.

Prophecy is a word of power spoken by one who’s anointed of the Holy Spirit. Recognize this when you speak, and your words will come to pass.

The Foundations of Life Are Out of Course

● In Psalm 82, the Psalmist describes people who lack the knowledge and understanding of God’s will, causing all the foundations of their lives to be out of course.
● These people walk in darkness, sickness, poverty, depression, and unhappiness because they do not know the way of the Spirit and walk according to their sensory perception.
● God says of these people, “They know not, neither will they understand,” which is why they walk on in darkness and all the foundations of their world are unstable.
● God originally founded all things rightly and declared them “very good,” but men have changed the foundations of their health, business, and prosperity through ignorance.
● People whose lives are unstable look at their future as bleak, receive bad medical prognoses, and see poor finances because they have refused to acquire understanding.
● God is not responsible for these problems, and He has already spoken about who His people are: “I have said, Ye are gods.”
● God’s use of “I have said” (past tense) indicates He told His people who they were before, but they were not listening.
● When you are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, God says to you, “Go and prophesy,” so you can confess who He has made you to be.
● Believers can declare: “Lord Jesus, thank You! I know who I am; I am the King’s kid. Therefore, I’ll never be poor; I’ll never be a failure; I’m a success; I’m a victor; I live in health, in the Name of Jesus!”
● Those who do not believe reveal their unbelief through their lives, living as victims of the system and their circumstances.
● Those who believe and put faith to work discover that their words come to pass because they speak according to God’s truth.
● Ecclesiastes 8:4 declares, “Where the word of a king is, there is power,” and believers are kings who shall reign on the earth.
● Revelation 5:10 confirms that Jesus has made believers kings and priests, giving their words power and authority.
● Prophecy is a word of power spoken by one who is anointed of the Holy Spirit, and when you recognize this, your words will come to pass.
● The power to change your circumstances lies in recognizing your identity in Christ and speaking accordingly.
● God’s original design for your life is “very good,” but you must align your words with that design to experience it.

From that ‘zero point’ where you are, you can chart a new course for your life and determine your future through words of power.

You Are the Prophet of Your Life!

● God showed Ezekiel a valley of dry bones and asked if they could live, but Ezekiel wrongly replied that it was up to God, when in fact it was Ezekiel’s responsibility to prophesy change.
● If God were running everyone’s life the way many people think, then He certainly has everything in a mess, but the truth is many people run their own lives or have handed control to the devil.
● People often blame God for their misfortunes, saying “God works in mysterious ways,” but God has actually given us the power to influence our destiny and control our future.
● Whatever becomes of you is really up to you, and you can affect your life, your future, and your own world through your words.
● The author shares Kenneth Hagin’s story of a woman whose son was on a path to destruction because she constantly spoke negative words over him, prophesying he would end up in the penitentiary.
● Hagin told the woman her prayers would be nullified by her negative words, so she needed to stop worrying and start thanking God for her son’s life instead.
● The woman learned to speak positively about her son, and months later he was born again and became all-out for God.
● David Yonggi Cho told a similar story of a wayward daughter, and he instructed the mother to stop speaking negatively about her and to declare daily that her daughter was saved and filled with the Spirit.
● The mother spoke the positive confessions daily until she began to see it, and weeks later her daughter came home, was born again, and was filled with the Holy Ghost.
● The author tells of a young man who had failed in everything and was told to go forth and prosper, and he began to prosper from that day forward.
● You have no reason to fail because failure has been ruled out of your life, and you must receive this as a spiritual revelation in your spirit, not just mental agreement.
● The only way to get a new kind of thinking is not by praying for it, but by studying the Word of God, which changes your thinking to line up with God’s thinking.
● The author declares that he cannot get healed from malaria or any disease because he cannot have them in the first place, having declared his health for years.
● You can declare: “I’m going from health to health; from success to success; from strength to strength. I’m growing in knowledge, in understanding, and in wisdom.”
● Don’t curse or say wrong things about the Church because you are part of it, and whatever you say about the Church will reflect on you and affect your life.

● As a child of God filled with the Holy Spirit, you have received the enablement to speak words of power that shape your life and future.
● Your future is in your mouth, and you are fully responsible for it, with no limits to what you can imagine and make out of your life.
● Every time you speak about your life or your future, you are actually prophesying, and if you speak contrary to what God says, you make yourself a false prophet.
● From any “zero point” you are at right now, you can chart a new course for your life and determine your future through words of power.
● Even in the midst of pain and tears, you can begin to prophesy to yourself and declare that you are coming out of the situation in the Name of Jesus.
● You don’t have to wait for someone else to declare God’s Word over you because you are a child of the Word, and you can tell it to yourself.
● The author declares that all he has experienced is the upward and forward life through speaking God’s Word over his life for years.

The money you require is in your mouth. That job or business is in your mouth. That pregnancy, that healing you’ve been waiting for is in your mouth.

Chart Your Course with Your Mouth

● The tongue is compared to the helm of a great ship—though small, it controls the entire vessel and boasts great things.
● Your tongue is the most powerful member in your body and can take you either to heaven or to hell, making you rich or poor, dressed in fine clothes or in rags.
● People in the streets, homeless and destitute, are there because their tongues kept them there, and it doesn’t matter how you got into a situation; you don’t have to stay there.
● Saying “whatever will be, will be” is like leaving a farm unplanted—something unwanted will grow, so you must speak purposefully over your life.
● You can use your tongue to programme yourself for a successful, tremendous life or for a life full of grief and regrets.
● The primary reason God gave you a mouth is found in Joshua 1:8—to meditate on the Word day and night, which means to mutter or speak the Word under your breath to yourself.
● The Hebrew word “hagah” (translated “meditate”) means to mutter or speak under your breath, so meditation is talking or muttering God’s Word to yourself.
● When you meditate on the Word, you are using your mouth to create the circumstances you want, chart your course, and determine your future.
● In Genesis, God spoke light into the darkness and chaos, and His words brought order, demonstrating that speaking is how change happens.
● The Spirit of God broods over your situation as you meditate on the Word, and when you speak the outcome you want, the Spirit ensures you have what you say.
● Young man, learn to wake up in the night to talk to yourself, not to read newspapers or watch movies—pace the floor and speak God’s Word.
● The tighter the world pulls its strings, and the harder things look, the more you should be talking, and the greater the problem, the greater will be its fall before you.
● Just keep talking—if you haven’t seen the harvest yet, don’t stop, because the power is in your mouth.
● The money you require is in your mouth; the job or business is in your mouth; the pregnancy and the healing are in your mouth.
● You talked yourself to the place you’re in right now, and you can talk your way forward from here—stop talking about what you see and say what you want instead.
● Romans 10:10 declares that with the mouth confession is made unto salvation, and “confession” means saying the same things as God.
● If you want to move from point A to point B, you are going to have to talk yourself there, and you’ve got to talk more than you eat and drink.
● The author prophesied years ago that his ministry would grow the largest Word church, pack out the National Stadium in Lagos, and network the world, and those prophecies are becoming reality.
● On 6th December 2002, over 500,000 people attended a Night of Bliss meeting, and on 6th February 2004, over 2.5 million attended a service in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.
● The prophecies of yesteryear are the realities we live in today, and it’s up to you to say what you want with your own mouth.

You have to set yourself to pray to bring those prophecies into reality. As you pray in the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God will guide you into knowing the set time for their fulfilment.

What Should You Do with Prophecy?

● When you hear a word of prophecy concerning you, you must do what Daniel did—set yourself to pray to bring those prophecies into reality.
● Daniel studied the scrolls of Jeremiah and discovered that Israel’s deliverance time had come, yet there was no deliverance, so he set himself to pray.
● As you pray in the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God will guide you into knowing the set time for the fulfilment of prophecies over your life.
● Praying in the Spirit makes your spirit sensitive and helps you pick up signals from God’s frequency, letting you know when it is time for a prophetic word to manifest.
● When you receive that signal, you must act immediately, because if you don’t act, you may lose the fulfilment of that prophecy.
● Don’t pray “Oh God, bring it to pass” and just wait passively—you must understand God’s ways and take responsibility for bringing prophecies to pass.
● The children of Israel knew the acts of God, but Moses knew the ways of God, and learning how prophecy works is learning one of the ways of God.
● You are the one responsible for bringing about the prophecies in your life, not God alone.
● You step into a prophecy by acting on it at the right time and in the right way, just as the priests had to step into the waters of the Jordan before it parted.
● If the priests had stepped into the Jordan at the wrong time or in the wrong way, they would have drowned, but they stepped in when God said to, and the river parted.
● Jesus didn’t pray for God to make prophecy happen—He said, “I’ve come to do thy will, O God,” and stepped into His destiny.
● In Luke 4, Jesus read the prophecy of Isaiah about Himself in the synagogue and then declared, “Today, this Scripture is fulfilled in your ears.”
● Jesus immediately put that Word to work when a demon-possessed man screamed out, and He cast the demon out, demonstrating that prophecy requires action.
● The people left the synagogue amazed at the mighty deed they witnessed, showing what happens when a prophetic word is acted upon.
● You must set yourself to pray in the Spirit to know God’s timing for your prophecies.
● Acting on a prophecy requires both the right timing and the right action—both are essential for fulfilment.

Apart from sin, one thing that’s sure to bring sickness or failure to a Christian is ‘wrong talk.’ A lot of Christians don’t have a problem with sin but with their mouths.

Your Talk Is Your Future!

● Jesus declared in Matthew 17:20 that with faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can say to a mountain to remove, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you.
● The life you are living today is the exact picture you painted with your words yesterday.
● Even if your current situation was not your plan five years ago, it was your talk, because your talk is your future and your tongue is the director of your life.
● Where your tongue goes, you go—if your tongue is confused, your life will be confused.
● Reading Job’s story on the surface may give the impression that God was testing him, but God was not the one who brought evil upon Job’s life.
● Job brought the catastrophe upon himself through his words, and the devil could not inflict those disasters until Job broke the hedge of protection God had placed around him through his words of fear.
● Job was a wonderful, righteous man whom God loved and bragged about, yet he lived in fear and unbelief, saying things like “I’m not safe” and “Those kids will be the death of me.”
● What you have now is the result of what you said years ago, and who you are today is what you said yesterday.
● Proverbs 18:21 declares that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
● Apart from sin, one thing that is sure to bring sickness or failure to a Christian is wrong talk—many Christians’ sin problem is actually the wrong use of their tongue.
● You are your own responsibility, and you cannot blame your downward spiral on family, society, economic forces, or government.
● Your faith and knowledge of the Word will put you over every external influence, and the government of any nation should not dictate your prosperity, joy, or success.
● Even if you were not responsible for getting fired from your job, you are responsible for staying without one—it’s not what you’re faced with that’s the problem, but what you do with the situation.
● When Abraham and Lot separated, Lot chose the best land for himself, but God told Abraham that as far as his eyes could see was his, including all the land Lot greedily chose.
● You must think and see like Abraham, whom God told that as far as his eyes could see was his, rather than continuing to wonder where to start.
● It’s time to quit wondering where you’re going to start from—don’t see yourself going down, because if you do, you will surely go down.

Everything you need is inside you. All the capital you need is inside you.

Make Your Move!

● If there is something God has told you to do or something in your heart you want to achieve, you must make a move because prophecies will not be fulfilled while you are sitting down with folded arms.
● Decide today to do something about the dreams and visions that God has given you.
● As you pray in the Spirit, listen for the guidance of the Holy Ghost within you, and when the Spirit ministers back to your spirit, you will be instructed on the particular step to take.
● When you receive that instruction, you must act immediately.
● Everything you need is inside you—all the capital you need is already within you.
● A tiny orange seed contains all the potential to produce roots, stem, branches, leaves, and many orange fruits with many seeds in them.
● Just like the seed, everything you need to become the “you” that God has destined you to be is inside you, and you only need to put yourself in the right environment for your potential to be released.
● The author declares he can never fail, never be sick or poor because he knows who he is and has found his place and roots in God’s Word.
● The author boasts in God’s Word because he has found that the Word works, and the Word of God is living and active.
● If you put the Word inside you, He will make you a master over the circumstances of life, and you will never live in fear or defeat anymore.
● With the Word inside you, there is no telling how far you will go—all limitations will be taken out of your life, and your potentialities will be let loose.
● David’s prayer in Psalm 16 shows his insight and revelation of God’s purpose, declaring that the lines are fallen unto him in pleasant places and he has a goodly heritage.
● The author declares that he can never be cast down because he has put God’s Word inside him so much that it is just not possible.
● What could it ever be that would make the author feel dejected when he knows the lines are fallen unto him in pleasant places, and he has a goodly heritage?
● You must see yourself as David did—declaring that the borders of your land have fallen in the choice parts and God has given you the best.
● David said, “I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do.”
● David’s secret was that he set the Lord always before him, seeing nothing but God, which is why he declared, “I shall not be moved.”
● The author encourages readers not to see satan around them but to see God’s glory, beauty, strength, power, grace, and favour manifested all around them.
● Hezekiah saw nothing but God when he turned his face to the wall and prayed, and before Isaiah could reach the middle court, God told him He had added fifteen years to Hezekiah’s life.
● Begin to prophesy about your future and declare that all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose.
● Don’t dare give up on the visions God has shown you—straighten up, square your shoulders, chest out, chin up, and elbow the devil out of your way.
● Push your way through every obstacle as you speak words of power—the walls will crumble before you and the seas will divide, and you will go through victoriously.
● It is time to prophesy about your life, your future, your ministry, your body, your family, your job, your finances, your country, and everything that concerns you.
● Declare with boldness and authority: “I refuse to fear. I see things changing for the best. I am fully persuaded that my God can perform that which He has spoken concerning me.”
● Declare: “My health is blossoming; my finances are increasing. I see my progress. I see my prosperity. I see my promotion. I see it! Glory to God!”
