According to the author, this spirit commands the activities of Lust as seen in 1John 2:15-17. It aims to snare mankind to her already vulnerable appetites to enslave them.
Many are caught under the web of this spirit, as they are enslaved with cravings and desires they cannot control. Others are enticed with high positions of authority, where they seek to dominate others instead of serving. And others pride themselves in their achievements and claim glory for themselves.
All these are the workings of the spirit of the world, making men slaves of their flesh.

• The Spirit of Bondage (Rom 8:15)
This spirit is responsible for all manner of afflictions that people suffer. It gets people tied down, locked up, and chained down.
It is an oppressive spirit, that’s isn’t satisfied with the number of men it has in its grip. Using all manner of deception in its grip to possess bodies, minds, and spirits.
It prowls on the desires of men, whether knowingly or not, to capture them.
How to break off their hold
• Cast out
According to the author, we have been given in Christ the power and authority to exercise Dominion over devils. And it is therefore our responsibility to exercise this authority, to cast out from our life’s these spirits.
• Put off
Putting off is a responsibility no one can attempt for you. It refers to the old man and its nature to lie, steal, anger, filthy words, and more. Simple all the works of the flesh. We are to like removing a filthy garment, pull off such habits of the flesh consciously.
• Lay aside
Laying aside represents excesses that draw us back from the place we should be. These excesses may not be sins but rather weights. This calls for laying them aside for the greater goal of walking in the spirit always.

The Price of ignorance
Ignorance does not cancel or overrule the operation of these wicked spirits. Instead, it enhances their operation, to deny or oppress an already delivered believer.
So a believer who continually suffers as a victim of such spirits does not have an excuse. Hence, he or she must accept their role, as it takes the knowledge of the right keys from the word of God to walk out on them.
The Power of Christ to deliver
The power of Christ to set free and deliver is backed up by the God-head. Jesus after his resurrection said, “all power in heaven and on earth, has been given to me.” Philippians 2 attests to that fact.
No power overrides the power of Jesus Christ. And the Holy Spirit has been given to us as believers to overcome at every point and at all times.
This power has been given to us to engage with, and take what’s ours in Christ—conquering controlling powers.
In conclusion, this book reveals that the operation of wicked spirits is real. Whether in the lives of unbelievers and of believers. It unveils how salvation in Christ provides a platform to be free. And what you must do to effect your liberty from controlling powers. To live a life of joy, peace, and prosperity.
